BERNINA Sewing Center Billings, Montana

BERNINA Sewing Center
Billings, Montana

The BERNINA Sewing Center hosted Sewapolooza in April. It is always such a pleasure to visit Doris Holzer and her staff in Billings, Montana. I love staying at the Northern Hotel and Doris and I have so much fun visiting, catching up with each other and eating at fun restaurants. She is quite the hostess. The sets the TBSC chose were: Quilting, Embroidery, and my favorite Designworks. It was a 2 day event but we repeated the same class on 2 different days. The students seemed to love the projects especially finishing them! TBSC has such a great staff and they were so much help to me. We had fun in the photo booth, a wonderful soup and salad lunch, and those girls can put up and tear down a room like no one else! They have 2 great guys as their technicians that were on hand for any emergencies. Thank you to all of the great people at The BERNINA Sewing Center for a fun weekend.

Mel's Sewing & Fabric SEWAPOLOOZA!
Welcome to Anaheim, California! Home of Mel's Sewing and Fabric. My first Sewapolooza was "sew" much fun! What a beautiful store and great staff! The Rock n' Roll decorations were amazing! The staff was so creative and went all out with the Rock n' Roll theme! It was an extra special day because H.P. Ueltschi the President of BERNINA was making a stop at Mel's Sewing and Fabrics. The store looked great, even a new coat of paint on the front door! Mr. Ueltschi spent over an hour visiting with the guests, and was very charming and answered all their questions. The sewing went great. We did the Quilting, Accessory and Embroidery sets. Even finished on time despite the surprise guest! The food was fabulous, everyone finished their projects, great company and hospitality. Mary Jensen joined the fun and was a big help as well. Charlene and Carol were amazing and real professionals at event planning. Perry and Karen Lytton were such great hosts and bent over backwards to make me feel welcome, took me to church for Easter Sunday at Saddleback Church (I LOVE Rick Warren). I spent a day walking around Downtown Disney, eating at some great restaurants and even spent the afternoon with our daughter and her husband on Easter. A good time was had by all! Thank you Mel's Sewing and Fabrics. 3 generations of Lytton's have grown a fabulous business.

Samples, Samples, Sample!

Samples are made! Now what?

Samples are finally done. Now it's time to put it all together.
Best place to practice was shutting the banners in the door in the hallway!

Packed and ready to go

Design works

Design works
BERNINA'S greatest technology in my opinion! Imagine Painting, Cutting and using Crystals on your sewing machine! The cutwork tool: Imagine cutting 10 layers of fabric in your embroidery hoop. Great for applique pieces, quilt block pieces, even cutting leather.
The paintworks is my favorite, The apparatus actually hold a felt tip fabric pen and paints on the fabric in the embroidery hoop. You can as paint on paper, fabric, leather, dishes. If it fits in the hoop you can paint on it. The Crystal works makes a template to complement your embroidery design or can be stand alone. The machine punches the holes in the template then crystals are sprinkled in the holes, adhesive paper covers the crystals and then they are ironed on.

BERNINA Cover Stitch L220

Serger set
BERNINA has a new cover stitch machine. Now the Serger can be left up for seams and the second machine stays in cover stitch mode. What a time saver! The serger is great for knits. No stretching, waving or unraveling, the Differential feed takes care of that. What a great idea for old T-shirts, turn them into a back pack!

New Version 7 Software

New Software 7!
Raised Satin, Needle punch, Stump work,  &Trapunto just to name of few of the new amazing capabilities of Designer Plus Software Ver. 7. Now you can use your needle punch accessory on your embroidery machine! Stump work is a technique that makes 3-D out of threads and fibers. It actually sews down wire on wash away stabilizer, fills it with thread or fabric, and becomes a 3-D effect. Great for flower pedals, leaves, butterflies, the possibilities are endless!
