Janean's BERNINA Pasco, WA

October 10 and 11 brought Carrie Wells and me to Pasco, Washington to Janean's BERNINA. It was a great event with lots of people and great machine sales. Including one for my daughter! She loves her new 710. Janine and Dewey hosted the event in the adjacent spaces next to their store. We had a large suite for our class room and even a "Sewapalooza Café". Carrie did all of the embroidery projects and I did the sewing projects. The catering was amazing and the café was decorated with many, many beautiful quilts. The photo booth was a great hit and we got a ton of pictures. 2 of the best ones are from Todd. He has a large flat bed truck and loaded it up with all of the machines to drive them down the parking lot to the classroom.... yes he tested the durability of the 880...it fell off of the truck! He picked it up and dusted it off and we plugged it in and guess what??? Yep sewed like a charm! It did have a few bumps and bruises:) Below I have I photographed the shopping lists Janine put together. I thought it was such a great idea. There was a picture of the project and then listed below it was all of the items that related to that set. The ladies put their name on it and turned them in after each set. Then the merchandise magically appeared in their bag at the end of the day. The best seller of the day was the drapery hemmer. It is a flat metal rectangle that you lay over the fabric and then fold the fabric up over the edge to press. It is made by Dritz. We used them to iron the top edge of the serger back pack. I think they had special orders for 25 of them. Janine definitely had the best remake of the Sewapalooza T-shirt! She turned it in to an apron! Sew cute. A good time was had by all.

Cutest apron ever!

Becky's Fabrics and BERNINA

Emily and Russell's amazing staff

October 3-4 took me back to Becky's Fabric and BERNINA in Lewiston, Idaho. I love going to this sweet little store, they make me feel like family. Emily and Russell Gottschalk do such a great job hosting events, taking care of their customers and Me for that matter!  The event was held at the Masonic Hall in Lewiston and was a great pace for a venue. We had a kitchen, large classroom and separate room for lunch, cutting and ironing. The staff at Becky's fabrics I extremely knowledgeable about the machines and projects. What a great work of people to work with. Can't wait to return in March.

Portland Sew EXPO

September 24-28 I traveled to Portland to teach at the Portland Sew EXPO. Laura Dickson and A Common Thread sponsored the BERNINA booth. We did a great little make and take designed by Debbie Cacciamani, a quilted tea towel featuring the 750. Great little project for Quilt Shows. It takes about an hour and fifteen minutes to make. Shows off the dual feed, #20 foot, applique, and drop star quilting.

September 18-21 took me back to Billings, MT to finish off the second half of their Sewapalooza. Earlier in the year The BERNINA Sewing Center had their first Sewapalooza and they brought me back for the second set of projects. BSC hosts a 2 day event with the same sets being taught both days. The classes are kept fairly small 10-15 people and everyone is provided a sewing machine so they get to make all three projects. A different group of ladies each day. The guests really like that. Doris Holzer and her staff always put on a nice event. There is plenty of time for visiting, shopping and getting to know her guests. She always has a nice catered lunch an we had an afternoon treat of Orange floats! It's always a pleasure to work with Vivien, Mert, Rose, Mary, Cindy, Anthony and the rest of her staff. They are extremely knowledgeable about all things BERNINA. I always love working with her techs Stephan and Larry. They are lightening quick at setting up the room and disassembling it!

A blast from the past!
Look what I found!

The Meissner Team

September 11-14 took me to Meissner Sewing in Sacramento, CA. I was lucky enough to have Carrie Wells there as well as the extremely knowledgeable staff of Meissners! Wow do they know their stuff. I think they have more men per capita in that BERNINA dealership than any other in the US! Having 4 techs at our beck and call for the 2 days was amazing! The event was held in store with about 60 people (not just ladies). We did 5 sets excluding sergers. It was nice to have it on site so the ladies could shop during the break. I just love Rob and Tonya, they were so organized and great hosts. Amber their event planner did a fabulous job and I so appreciated the taxi service! It was nice to work with Jennifer again, that girl should be working for BERNINA! What a sweet personality! The entire staff is so knowledgeable about the products and are so pleasant to be around. Loved my stay at Meissners!
